Efficacy and Effectiveness of Physical Agent Modalities in Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Type I: A Scoping Review

چکیده
Complex regional pain syndrome type I (CRPS-I) is a rare condition with huge variability in triggering factors and clinical scenarios. The complexity of the pathophysiology this fosters proposal several therapeutic options different mechanisms action both research practice. An interdisciplinary multimodal approach, including pharmacological non-pharmacological interventions, particularly physical therapy, recommended by international guidelines, but benefits harms available interventions are poorly known. In scoping review, rationale for use agent modalities patients CRPS-I will be presented. We found 10 studies addressing role electromagnetic field electrotherapy, laser therapy. Our findings suggest that therapy modalities, particular transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) pulsed (PEMF), may contribute to reduce improve function CRPS-1.

Efficacy of pamidronate in complex regional pain syndrome type I.
OBJECTIVES Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), formerly known as reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD), is a painful, disabling disorder for which treatment is difficult. The aim of this study was to determine the efficacy of pamidronate in a double-blind randomized placebo-controlled trial. METHODS Patients referred to our regional multidisciplinary pain management center who fulfilled the I...
متن کاملType I complex regional pain syndrome.
First described by Ambroise Paré in the mid-17th century complex, regional pain syndrome (CRPS) can be defined as an articular and periarticular pain syndrome associated with vasomotor deregulation triggered by various stresses with no relationship between the intensity of the initial injury and severity of the continuing pain. Several names have been given to Type 1 complex regional pain syndr...
متن کاملThermal pain in complex regional pain syndrome type I.
BACKGROUND Quantitative sensory testing (QST), with thermal threshold determinations, is a routine part of the comprehensive clinical workup of patients suffering from chronic pain, especially those with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome seen at our outpatient pain clinic. This is done to quantitatively assess each patient's small fiber and sensory function in a controlled manner. Most patients ha...
متن کاملComplex regional pain syndrome type I in cancer patients.
Complex regional pain syndrome type I (CRPS-I) is infrequently associated with various malignancies, and may lead to severe pain in already debilitated patients. The causal relationship between CRPS-I and paraneoplastic syndrome, controversies in diagnosis and treatment, and new treatment modalities are presented.
متن کاملTreatment of complex regional pain syndrome type I with bisphosphonates
Complex regional pain syndrome type I (CRPS-I) is a common and disabling disorder affecting a peripheral limb, usually developing after a trauma to an extremity. CRPS-I is characterised by presence of spontaneous pain, allodynia and hyperalgesia, disproportionate to the inciting event and by a variety of autonomic disturbances and trophic abnormalities. The pathophysiology of CRPS-I has not bee...
